About Ken Pridgeon
My life has revolved around art from my young days at Pridgeon's grocery where I learned to paint sales on store windows. I watched an old black man name of Mose' I guess his Mom named him Moses, but he ended up being Mose. He taught me how to paint windows and make real sure I painted them as colorful as I could so that others would want their windows painted. We would paint those windows every color in the rainbow with lot's of ice cream with cherries and ice running down. When I got older after my 10 years in service and tinting wedding photos for the boys I had a spare time sign business and finally became a billboard artist when we used to paint them. Somehow or other I always ended up in some dangerous spot; be it 50' up in the air or hanging off the side of a tug boat in the gulf painting on the side of a barge or painting helicopter landing pads on top of crew's quarters in the Gulf. I still was known for my windows and could put on sales for store owners when they were not even having a sale. Well I started studying Norman Rockwell and loving to tell stories with paintings which brings me to the present. I am 80 years old and have painted portraits of over 250 of our Texas fallen. What I tell people is I'm a Poor Man's Norman Rockwell and love to tell the stories of the heroes in the backgrounds and the families love it and request it. When I take a break from my portraits of our heroes I might grab my trowels and paint a Willie Nelson or Kris Khristopherson or Hank Williams Jr. (just wild crazy colors) I love total color surprise (Nobody can match my colors-including me) I hope you enjoy My Wild Side as well as my portraiture...These will be my prints that I will have for sale and I hope they become a good investment for you and your family. As long as I can I will sign each print, by the way I also have a book of Poetry called "Dauber's Ditties for people over 65 and those that make fun of us" I hope you enjoy... I also have a book titled The Life and Times of Ken the Dauber Pridgeon. I also plan to have instructional Portraits with about 4 sequences of a Portrait that you as an artist may choose to follow. if you are an artist reading this "Whatever you do-Enjoy it to the fullest"
